Horacio Elena (Argentina)
Horacio Elena was born in LaPlata, Argentina where he studied architecture, cinematography and fine arts. In 1966, he illustrated his first children’s book and to date Elena has published over 230 books globally, working with 30 international publishers.
Eventually, Horacio left Argentina and spent the early 1960’s traveling throughout South America before coming to Spain in 1969 on a scholarship from the Prado Museum in Madrid. He then made his way to Sitges where he continues to live and work today.
Elena’s works are not limited to illustration, but also include watercolors, oil and acrylic paintings and drawings. In addition, i le gallery is proud to present Horacio’s sculptural
work, well known in Sitges, as the village has proudly displayed two of his sculptures overlooking the Mediterranean Sea since 2007. His works can also be found in private collections as well as The Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires, The Museum of Contemporary Latin American Art (MACLA) and The Municipal Museum of Art of La Plata.
