Frank Jensen (Denmark)
Born in Denmark in 1956, Frank Jensen lives and works in Barcelona. Art became his passion from a very young age. His father, a violinist and painter, was his very first teacher and by the age of seven he was already creating his first watercolors and oil paintings. He studied art in Copenhagen, worked as an illustrator in Denmark and lived and worked in the United States for several periods.
According to Frank his work is “abstract painting, with similitudes to Informalism and Abstract Expressionism.” His chromatic language is extensive; using acrylics with brushes, palette knifes, cloth, paper; etc. to apply many layers. While he began as a figurative artist, Frank now considers himself an abstract painter. With that transition, everything changed...thoughts, reflections and observations of the world
surrounding him have changed not only his means of inspiration, but even his way of life.
Frank Jensen spent several years traveling around various countries before settling down in Barcelona in 1991. His first steps into the professional art world were illustrations for newspapers, magazines and books. Since 1990, Frank Jensen has participated in numerous solo and collective exhibitions, as well as art fairs, in Spain and throughout the rest of Europe. His work can also be found in many collections, including in La Caixa and the Vila Casas Foundation, among others.
